Alaska volcano’s eruption ‘likely,’ could send ash to state’s population centers within weeks

Mount Spurr, a volcano located 80 miles from Anchorage, is showing signs of increased seismic activity and volcanic gas emissions. The Alaska Volcano Observatory has raised its alert level, anticipating a likely eruption in the coming weeks or months. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely, as increased seismicity and gas emissions could provide a few days to weeks of warning before an eruption.
