Many have wondered how you can dock a ship without a tug. This video shows an example of a Captain docking a large vessel in extreme weather using an anchor to control the motion of the vessel. Cook Inlet Marine pilots use a similar technique to control ships as they dock in the tide, currents, and winds in Cook Inlet.
